The Indiana State Rock is the limestone. Limestone is found i central and southern Indiana.The limestone is mined from quarries and is used to build buildings across the country. The Indiana State Bird: The Indiana State bird is the Cardinal. These birds are known for their bright red feathers and cheerful song. The male's feathers are bright red, but the female's feathers are a yellowish-brown.

How Indiana is named: Indiana means "Land of the Indiana." Many of these Native Americans inhabited the forests of early Indiana. Presently there are less than 8,000 Native Americans living in the state.
